Breaking 100 is one of the most satisfying milestones in golf. It means you're managing the course, avoiding big mistakes, and developing consistency across your entire game.
As a PGA professional with over 20 years of coaching experience, I’ve helped hundreds of golfers reach this milestone through structured practice and smarter course management. If you’re serious about improving your game, structured coaching and data-driven feedback can accelerate your progress — something I discuss in detail in my article on using TrackMan data to improve your golf game.

Core Goals of the Break-100 Program
Before starting, track your current performance for a few rounds.

Greens in Regulation | 1–3 per round | 4–6 |
Up & Down Success | 10–15% | 25–35% |
Three-Putts | 4–5 per round | 1–2 max |
Penalty Shots | 3–5 | 0–2 |
If you’re unsure what areas of your game need the most work, a structured swing assessment can identify the fastest way to improve. You can book one here:👉 https://www.kevindelaneygolf.com/book-a-lesson

Monday – Driving Accuracy Session 🚀
Goal: Increase fairways hit and eliminate penalty drives.
Warm-Up (10 minutes)
Light stretching
20 easy wedge shots
10 half swings with a 7-iron
Drill 1: Fairway Gate Drill

Smooth tempo
Center contact
Most golfers break 100 using controlled tee shots rather than maximum distance.
If your driver is inconsistent, you may benefit from a video swing review. You can send your swing directly for feedback here:
Tuesday – Iron Consistency 🎯
Goal: Improve ball striking and distance control.
Drill 1: Ladder Distance Drill
Using a 7-iron, hit 5 balls each at:
80 yards
100 yards
120 yards
140 yards
Focus on controlling swing length rather than power.
Drill 2: Target Practice
Pick 5 different targets on the range.
Hit 3 balls at each target.
Goal: 8/15 shots finishing near your target line
Drill 3: Divot Drill
Place a towel 4 inches behind the ball.
Hit shots without touching the towel to improve ball-first contact.
If you’re struggling with inconsistent strikes, a TrackMan lesson can show exactly what the club is doing at impact.

Wednesday – Short Game Mastery 🏌️

Nearly 60% of shots in a round occur inside 100 yards, making this the fastest way to lower your scores.
Drill 1: 10-Ball Up & Down Challenge
Chip 10 balls from different lies.
Track how many times you:
Chip close
Then hole the putt
Goal: 3–4 up and downs
Drill 2: Landing Spot Drill
Place a towel on the green.
Chip balls trying to land on the towel.
Focus on:
Clean contact
Predictable rollout
Drill 3: Bunker Practice
Hit 20 bunker shots focusing on:
Open clubface
Enter sand 1–2 inches behind ball
Full follow through

Thursday – Putting Performance 🟢
Goal: Eliminate three-putts.
Drill 1: The 3-Foot Circle Drill
Place 6 balls around the hole at 3 feet.
Make all 6 before finishing.
Goal: 100% success
Drill 2: Lag Putting
Putt from:
20 feet
30 feet
40 feet
Goal: Finish inside 3 feet
Do 10 putts from each distance.
Drill 3: Distance Ladder
Putt balls to stop at:
10 feet
20 feet
30 feet
40 feet
Without going past the target.
Saturday – On-Course Strategy Round ⛳
Play 9 or 18 holes focusing on strategy rather than score.
Key Strategy Rules
1. Avoid trouble
Aim away from hazards.
2. Use the club you control best
You don’t need driver on every hole.
3. Play for bogey
Bogey golf breaks 100 comfortably.
Example on a par 4:
Drive → Iron → Chip → 2 Putts = Bogey
Sunday – Performance Review 📊
Track these stats after each round:
Fairways hit
Greens in regulation
Total putts
Three-putts
Penalty shots
Example:
Metric | Result |
Fairways | 6/14 |
Greens | 4 |
Putts | 34 |
Three-putts | 2 |
Tracking these numbers helps you identify where to focus your practice — something we do regularly during lessons.
