Today I played golf at @langdonhillsgolfclub Golf Club with my dad.

I have been lucky enough to play some incredible golf courses and share fairways with some amazing players, but playing with my dad always brings it back to what really matters. It is where it all started, and a reminder that golf has never just been about the game, but about the people who shaped you as both a golfer and a person.

I first played here as a junior golfer, and Langdon Hills became the place where I spent 20 years working, learning, and growing into the professional I am today. Even now, I often return, and every visit feels grounding. The welcome from the members and staff has always remained the same.

As 2025 comes to a close, this round felt particularly meaningful. The year has brought real change in my professional life, moments that have challenged me and reshaped my direction. Returning to familiar ground offered perspective.

I now head into 2026 genuinely excited, with new opportunities and new chapters ahead.

This time next week we’ll all be enjoying the final day of the Ryder Cup – and hopefully, we’ll see plenty more magic moments just like this one! 🇪🇺🔥 There’s nothing quite like the drama and intensity of the Ryder Cup, and it always provides shots that stick in the memory for years to come. To get us in the mood, let’s take a closer look at one brilliant short-game moment.

Here’s a chip shot that Rory McIlroy played under pressure, and it’s a great example of how technique and feel come together. The ball was positioned slightly back in the stance, setting up that downward strike needed to get crisp contact on the ball.

On the backswing, the shaft works steeper, with the wrists in extension, helping to create the angle needed for a clean strike. This setup encourages the correct delivery into the ball, ensuring the clubface is in the perfect position to generate maximum control.

From there, it’s all about the feeling of releasing the club through the downswing. By letting the clubhead accelerate and release naturally, he was able to create that extra spin and stopping power we all love to see. It’s a fantastic short-game lesson that you can take straight to your practice green. 🏌️‍♂️✨

Maximise Your Practice with Randomized Yardages! ⛳🎯

When practicing, it’s easy to fall into the habit of hitting the same shot over and over. But golf isn’t played that way on the course! To truly improve, try randomizing your practice—one of the best ways to simulate real-game conditions and sharpen your distance control.

One great method is using a Google random number generator to create a target yardage. Instead of hitting ball after ball to the same distance, generate a number (e.g., 137 yards) and challenge yourself to hit that exact distance with the best club selection and swing adjustment. Then, generate a new number and repeat! This keeps your practice engaging and forces you to adapt just like you would on the course. 🎯🏌️‍♂️

This drill helps develop better feel, club selection, and shot execution under varying conditions. You’ll start to understand your yardages better and build confidence in hitting precise numbers, making your on-course performance more consistent. 🔥

We focused on low point and angle of attack, working to improve strike consistency. Initially, the club was moving too far left due to a low point before the ball, affecting both path and strike. By adjusting left wrist position at the top and impact, we saw a huge improvement—better ball striking, more control, and increased distance! 🎯🔥

If you find your arms and body aren’t working together in your pitching, this Two-Ball Drill can make a huge difference! A common issue is a steep angle of attack, causing inconsistent strikes. This drill encourages you to shallow out your swing and improve your body rotation.

How to Do It:
🔹 Place two golf balls on the ground.
🔹 Set up to the outside ball but focus on hitting the inside ball.
🔹 As you swing, feel your body turning through the shot rather than just using your arms.
